The aim of the South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group is to preserve and promote South Derbyshire's mining heritage.
The South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group was formed in 1999 by Tim Love, in memory of his grandfather who was a miner. The group meets at Gresley Old Hall, Church Gresley, every Tuesday morning (10am - 12pm) and on the first Thursday of each month.
The group is a non profit making organisation that relies on donations of both artefacts and finances from the public and businesses.
The group has a huge collection of photographs, objects, books and other artefacts which we regularly exhibit at Sharpes Pottery, Swadlincote Library, local shows as well as taking exhibits to local schools.
We have recently moved to a larger room at Gresley Old Hall which now makes us much more accessible for people with disabilities.
